Boise Watershed Environmental Education Centre
Three years of hard work and dedication have finally resulted in the completion of the Boise Watershed Environmental Education Centre (BWEEC) thanks to the tenacity and commitment of CH2M Hill, Pico and New Media Magic.
The BWEEC exhibits – occupying some 3,600 sq. ft. - were designed, constructed and installed by Pico and range from static graphic displays to interactive touch screen kiosks that challenge and inform users on water use and conservation. The venue also includes a working turn-of-the-century farm pump that demonstrates how water use and technology have changed over the years – although the principles remain the same.
The Waterfall of Heroes comprises the centrepiece of BWEEC and is a combination of art, exhibit and technology. The names of the generous donors who made the BWEEC possible are displayed in a cascading Waterfall of Heroes and through the use of image capture technology visitors to the BWEEC can temporarily insert their names as well.
“This team is paving the way in design and production of environmental education centres across the globe.” - Linda MacPherson, CH2M Hill “
Pico was really great to work with because they have a creative base that engineers are not able to reach.” -Donna-Marie Hayes, President of Boise Watershed Exhibits Inc.
“This is many times better than I ever imagined. It is really just wonderful, so interactive and interesting.” - David Bieter, Mayor of Boise
